Short Bathtubs

Having a small bathroom does not necessarily preclude you from being able to have a bathtub. Small tubs range from 48 to 54 inches, depending on the manufacturer and model, and provide the right fit for tiny spaces, giving you more room to move about the bathroom. Short bathroom are ideal for children and many can be used predominantly as a shower base where showers are the primary method of cleaning–but then used as a tub occasionally when needed.

Small Bathtubs Can Create a Relaxing Experience

A deep small bathtub can provide a bathing experience that is just as satisfying, if not more so, than a longer, but shallower, tub. What you may have to sacrifice in size in order to accommodate your bathroom’s dimensions may be made up for in the types of small tubs from which you can choose. A number of well-known companies, including Jacuzzi, Kohler and American Standard, offer deep soaking tubs, such as the Kohler Greek Bath that is 48 inches long and 23 inches deep, providing sufficient room for a relaxing soak. Installing a four-foot whirlpool bathtub offers even more possibilities for relaxation in a diminutive bathroom. Many small whirlpool tubs are equipped with adjustable water jets, heating capabilities and ambient lighting.

If your bathroom does not have a long enough wall for a five-foot bathtub, a small corner unit may be suitable for your space. Corner whirlpool tubs range in size from 48 to 54 inches with oblong or more uniquely shaped basins. The corner layout allows the diagonal bathing space to be larger.

Other options in deep tubs include 51-inch walk-in safety tubs. Some are bathtubs and others include water or air jets–for full body massage. Walk-in bathtubs have doors with water-tight seals and allow especially easy access for people with mobility issues.
